Vanities, hebel (הֶבֶל) 01892, is from the verb hebel (הֶבֶל) 01891 to act emptily; translated vanity or vain; literally vapour, breath. Ecclesiastes 1 says our wisdom, madness and folly, and the sacrifice of fools is empty because it not the will of God but mischievousness.
