Saved By Grace and Not by Law

Modern Christians have come up with several private interpretations or personal philosophies about the teaching of Paul and the salvation though Jesus Christ. They use numerous quotes out of context and assume meanings to words in order to reinvent the Gospel to suit their own varied desires.

They say things like:

* A saved believer who has trusted fully in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross for his or her salvation understands the simplicity of the Gospel of Grace. They know that they are saved because...

    • 1. Jesus Christ died for their sins and paid for them all. God's perfect Justice has been satisfied by the death of His Son.
    • 2. That Jesus was buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4
    • 3. They receive, believe and trust that Christ's perfect sacrifice is all that is required to save them. They know they cannot add anything or subtract anything from Christ's sacrifice.
  • Salvation is a free gift. It cannot be earned, there is nothing for the sinner to do for their salvation.

No one of course is suggesting or saying that people are saved by works nor by the law like the Pharisees sough[[t to do. Many of these Modern Christians run back to a saved by grace eschatology whenever anyone talks about what one does.

A number of terms need to be defined in accordance to the meanings of

Saved Believers

Paul such as "saved believer".

What is a saved believer?

The word "believer" only appears twice in the Bible. in Acts 5:14 "And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)" We see it translated from pisteuo πιστεύω a verb translated believe 239 times and believer once. It is from the noun for faith; it can mean "to think to be true" or "place confidence in".

We also see the word in 1 Timothy 4:12 "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."

Here the word is pistos πιστός meaning faithful. It is defined "of persons who show themselves faithful in the transaction of business, the execution of commands, or the discharge of official duties"

The word pistos does come from the word peitho πείθω which means "to persuade" or "be persuaded" or even "to trust, have confidence" but as an adjective it is defining some one who because he is convinced or convicted of Christ he shows evidence of the faithful in the transaction of business of Christ keeping the commandments of Christ.

The Modern Christians often dilute the word believer of not needing to show the "execution of commands" of Christ nor even persuaded to seek to follow the ways he said to go and be. They seem to think that they merely have to be persuaded that they are 'saved believer with no actual evidence discharged that they know or believe in Christ other than their personal profession of belief.

This is very inconsistent with what Christ tells us about being doers of the word and keeping his commandments but it is also contrary to the the instructions of Paul.

In 2 Timothy 3:5[1] we see Paul telling us to shun those who have a form of godliness but deny the power. He says this because in 2 Timothy 4:3 [2] because people reject sound doctrine because of their own desires.[3]

The phrase sound doctrine simply mean the whole teachings. One way they do this is suggest that Paul was teaching a different gospel than Christ despite the fact that he states that he is preaching the gospel of Christ.[4]

Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

It should be absolutely clear that Paul never claims to be anything but a minister of Christ. [5] This gospel of Christ phrase is seen back in Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

To be faithful one has to repent and believe in the real Jesus. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

To suggest that Paul's use of my gospel in Romans 2:16 [6] somehow makes what Paul is preaching a different gospel is taking away the foundation of Paul which is Christ. That is the very definition of unsound doctrine.

Most people pick and choose quotes out of the context of the Bible and ignore history itself to perpetuate their personal beliefs. They seek ministers that continue to justify their apathy and sloth in the ways of Christ and their desires in the ways of the world.

They create an image of Christ in their minds and worship that image and you can tell that is what they are doing by their works, by what they are doing and not doing.

One of the first quotes that comes to mind is:

  • 2 Timothy 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts.

What is this "divers lusts"?

The word divers means "various sorts" diseases, miracles or even color but in this case it is referring to the Greek word epithumia ἐπιθυμία from epithumeo ἐπιθυμέω translated desire, covet, and occasionally lust. Epithumia ἐπιθυμία is defined "desire, craving, longing, desire for what is forbidden.

We are called to repent, to seek, to walk in His ways. But some who profess him with their lips continue to make the word of God to none effect by their traditions just like the Pharisees did and they two have their high priests like Jannes and Jambres who feed out the eschatology of the serpent and pray to the Pharaohs and Fathers upon the earth for their daily bread.

They are already under "legalistic system" and again entangled again with the yoke of bondage. They have been spoiled through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. But nay they have a form of godliness but deny the power of God so they are not dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world and are very subject to ordinances,

I see many who think they trust in Christ but if they did we would see different fruit. We would not see them doing what the Pharisees did but see them seeking the ways of Christ and bearing the fruit of the early Church.

In truth most do not know the ways of Christ for if they knew Christ they would began to follow his ways and not ways that of those who have done contrary to what Christ taught and showed us.

Like the prodigal son they would be again returning to the righteous ways of Christ and Paul ad others who turned around and followed after the perfect law of liberty through faith hope and charity.

But instead they are "Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." 2 Timothy 3:7

Syllogism

A syllogism is a kind of logical argument in which one proposition is inferred from two or more others of a specific form. In antiquity, two rival theories of the syllogism existed: Aristotelian syllogistic and Stoic syllogistic.

  • All Christians are saved.
  • All who believe in Christ are Christians.
  • All who believe in Christ are saved.

But if a statement includes a term so that the statement is false if the term has no instances (is not instantiated) then the statement is said to entail existential import with respect to that term.

To be instantiated means "represent as or by an instance".

For belief to be real it must be represented as something or be manifested by an identifiable instance. In other words belief must bear fruit worthy of repentance.[7]

Belief has an existential import because it may not be true that they believe.
How do you know someone believes?
Because they say they believe?
Because they think they believe?

Romans 3:3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
Romans 15:31 That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;

    • Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT OF GOD: **Not of works,**LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST.
    • There are many boasters today that will try to put you under some sort of legalistic system. They themselves cannot live up to their own standards. They can't see this because they are blinded by the god of this world. They are too busy preaching law and how wonderful and holy they are and reject God's free gift. They insult and degrade the cross of Christ by claiming that His perfect sacrifice was not enough to save us. They distract themselves from the fact that they are sinners, break the commandments (daily) and brag that they are better than people who simply trust in Christ by JUDGING YOU AS UNWORTHY AND UNFIT TO BE SAVED. They pat themselves on the back and gloat about how good and righteous they are and that God is pleased with them and their works while God is displeased with you and your lack of works and imperfect law keeping.
    • 2 Corinthians 4:4-5 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. **For we preach not ourselves**, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
    • The believer knows that they are saved FOR GOOD WORKS not BY THEM.
    • Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
    • Paul's Gospel given to him by the risen and ascended Lord Jesus Christ from heaven as recorded in Acts Chapter 9 was a mystery. The Gospel of the Kingdom was in prophecy and the two are not to be mixed for our salvation in the Dispensation of the Grace of God. (Ephesians Chapter 3)
    • Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to **my gospel,** and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
    • The Kingdom Gospel that concerns the nation of Israel and the fact that the nations of the earth can be blessed by blessing Israel was not a mystery but in prophecy.
    • Acts 3:19-21 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of **all his holy prophets since the world began.**
    • Today under the **Dispensation of the Grace of God** true believers know that they are **already saved** and that there are not waiting for Christ to come and set up the earthly Jewish kingdom to have their "sins blotted out when the times will of refreshing come from the presence of the Lord:"
    • Believers know that they are already saved, complete, and that they have been forgiven all sins and trespasses.

Proof TEXTS:

    • Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
    • Colossians 2:13-14 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, HAVING FORGIVEN YOU ALL TRESPASSES; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
    • Colossians 2:10 And ye are **COMPLETE IN HIM,** which is the head of all principality and power:
    • The fact is that we are all sinners and none of us measure up to God's Holy and perfect standards. Only by believing the Gospel can we be saved and have Christ's righteousness imputed to us.

THE BAD NEWS

    • Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    • Don't put yourself under the law for salvation.
    • Romans 3:19-21 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that **every mouth may be stopped,** and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. **But now** the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

THE GOOD NEWS

    • 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
    • You can be saved today if you will trust in Christ and Him alone for your salvation.
    • It is not necessary for you to go anywhere, say anything, pray a prayer, go forward in an altar call or do anything except trust in the fact that Jesus Christ did it all!
    • Romans 8:1-3 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law **could not do**, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
    • "...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved..."
    • Second false message

Speaking of picking and choosing what people are to believe...

Matthew 19:27-28 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Matthew 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

Jesus taught Israel not to work and to take no thought for their life because the Kingdom of heaven was at hand. Is that what you teach?

Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Matthew 6:25-26 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Which set of instructions are we to follow? Are we to follow what Jesus and the 12 taught Israel or what Paul under a new Gospel revealed to him by the risen and ascended Lord Jesus Christ after the "fall of Israel".

2 Corinthians 12:14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

Which are you going to do... forsake all or are you going to lay up earthly treasure for your children?

The early JEWISH church did exactly gave up all.

Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Acts 2:43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

Acts 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had ALL THINGS common;

Acts 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

So, you claim that this what you are doing? Have you forsaken all and share with the brethren that believe as you do and have all things common? Do you lay up gold, silver, guns and property for yourself and your family or do you sell out share all that you have and wait for Christ to come and set up His Kingdom?

"Most people pick and choose quotes out of the context of the Bible and history itself. They seek ministers and quotes that justify their apathy and sloth in the ways of Christ." Gregory Williams

Maybe you should consider your own words and realize that YOU are contradicting what Christ taught to Israel by mixing them with the instructions that Christ gave to Paul after the fall of Israel.

Salvation has come to the Gentiles through the fall of Israel. Salvation was to come according to prophecy through their rise. Can you see what this means?

Israel was under the law. We in this dispensation are not under the law.

Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Maybe it is you who quote and twist verses out of their context.

In the ages to come there will come a time when Gentiles will be saved by doing works of righteousness. When people must bless Israel to be saved as they did in the past.

Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

Genesis 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

Genesis 12:3 And I will **bless them that bless thee,** and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

In the Future...

Matthew 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

Matthew 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

Matthew 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Matthew 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Matthew 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Matthew 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

Matthew 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

You know the rest of the passage. The ones that did not give Christ's brethren ISRAEL the things they needed are cast into everlasting punishment.

The Gentiles who bless Israel will be saved and those who don't will be lost.

(Note) The Gentiles that are saved will not understand what they have done. "When did we do these things?"

That is written for the Body of Christ's learning and admonition but it is not written directly to us...

Paul under direct revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ writes this directly to us

Titus 3:4-5 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, **Not by works of righteousness which we have done,** but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Which is it? Are we to do works of righteousness for our salvation or are we saved by not doing works of righteousness.

These instructions are written to two different groups of people. Israel is a literal, physical nation. The Body of Christ is a spiritual body.

In "times past" faith and works were required for salvation as they will in in the future "ages to come. "But now" works will not save us. All the work and everything needed for salvation has been done.

Romans 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it **no more of works:** otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

"NO MORE OF WORKS" if it is no more of works then in times past works were a part of salvation.

James writes to the twelve tribes scattered abroad in the book of James...

"Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." James 2:17

Paul writes:

Romans 4:4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

Romans 4:5 But to him that **worketh not,** but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

In times past salvation was performance based a person was saved by faith and works.

God required Israel to do something and then He would bless them, but if they didn't do what He required He would curse them.

Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:...

Deuteronomy 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

Works and obedience were required... or a curse would come upon the nation of Israel.

The Body of Christ is not under the law for blessings by performance and cursed if the the members of the Body fail to perform.

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Jesus took all our sins upon Himself and the cup of wrath was poured upon Him. He did everything for us to be saved. The Body of Christ is a "New Man" not a cursed nation.

Mixing law and grace confuses the issues. "Rightly Dividing the Word of truth" and knowing who the apostle that we are to follow today is critical.

The Body is not to follow the instructions given to the twelve but rather the instructions given to a very humble chief of sinners the apostle Paul.

1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

1 Corinthians 4:16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

Romans 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

1 Timothy 1:15-16 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in **me first** Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should **HEREAFTER believe on him to life everlasting.**

BELIEVE on Him (Jesus) and the instructions given to Paul and not WORK for life everlasting.

Paul was the first to "glory in the cross" Paul was the first to be given the Gospel of the Grace of God. He calls IT "my gospel". He calls it "my gospel" in Romans 2:16, Romans 16:25 and in 2 Timothy 2:8.

Christ died for and paid for **ALL** out sins. So, if Christ died and Paid for all our sins... which sins didn't he die and pay for?...

I will send you some really well written articles soon on this topic.

Have a good rest of the day Greg,

What is the point of you sending me anything? I am a liar in your eyes and you have your mind made up... that I am "strongly deluded" and that by almighty God... I am in a "modern church" and am a lost, lazy, covetous, swine and a dog who has returned to his own vomit, a cursed child according to your beliefs.

However...

God is not sending anyone "strong delusion" at this present time but instead desires "all men to be saved". He will send strong delusion after the Body of Christ leaves this earth but not now.

all men are deluded to some degree but God is the one who will in the future send "strong delusion" and cause them to believe a lie.

1 Timothy 2:3-6 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

2 Thessalonians 2:6 And "now" ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

"now" present

2 Thessalonians 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

2 Thessalonians 2:8 And "then" shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

"then" future

2 Thessalonians 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

2 Thessalonians 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

God cannot be sending and causing people to have "strong delusion" and desire all men to be saved at the same time.

Perhaps you have invested so much of yourself into your philosophy that it is difficult for you to let it go and trust in Christ's work on the cross for your salvation.

Take care,

Benny

Benny 7:26am Nov 6 Also... It is not God that is sending strong delusion at this present time of Grace and reconciliation but in fact Satan is blinding those that God desires to be saved.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

(Note) These people are lost but thy can be saved if they believe but they are lost if they believe not.

Satan is the blinder at this present time... God will send "strong delusion" after this dispensation of pure grace without works ends.
