Simeon
The Hebrew name Simeon[1] comes from the Hebrew word shema[2] , which means "to hear" or "to listen" the question may be determined by his life if he will become "He who God has heard".
Jacob's second son Simeon was born of Leah. Leah felt that Jacob loved Rachel, more than he loved her and sought to give a second son while Rachel remained barren.
Simeon was the first left hostage with Joseph in Egypt.
The curse of Simeon and Levi found in Genesis 49:5 was because they had troubled him because they made him "stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites".(Genesis 34:30) They had used their sword to take vengeance because Dinah's abuse.(Genesis 34:25)
That cure of Israel upon Simeon and Levi was because of their use of "instruments of cruelty" found in "their habitations". Genesis 49:5 That cruelty is associated with the true meaning of Leaven.
New Testament
Simeon was a devout Jew and prophet who recognized the infant Jesus as the Messiah.
