Vs 7 "early" and "latter" rain: Early rain is a blessing, when you are growing crops. The new growth of springtime needs the water. Latter rain may be a blessing in the eyes of some, while in the eyes of others, it is a curse. Again, with crops rain is good; you time your harvest so that the rain will not harm anything. The latter rain will be a useful blessing for the farmer. But if you have plans for "summer fun in the sun", then the latter rain is a curse.

The wanton life resents the same thing which the wise man loves. The wise man knows the usefulness of trials; they are blessings. He makes room for them in his life. But those who have not grasped the usefulness of "due diligence" bitterly fight against the things which stand in their way of "doing what feels good" (lust).

The rain falls on the just and the unjust. God graces upon the creatures that which they need for their growth in their spirit and soul. When the unjust finally turns to face God, he begins walking on the path of justice, and he turns from hating the "rain" to loving it.

In the Day of Judgment, "rain" (a metaphor) ruins the fun of the wicked, but God's people who trust God with their whole heart are able to face that day with a smile, and strictly within their relationship with God, they see the deliciousness of the "rain", while they grieve on behalf of the wicked who could not see it.
