Tale of bricks
Exodus 5:8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
Exodus 5:18 Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.
The word tale in "tale of the bricks" is also translated state[1] in 2 Chronicles 24:13 "So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in his state, and strengthened it."
It is from a word that is translated equal or weigh [2] but is defined as to regulate, measure.
Their "tale of the bricks" represented their tax obligation to the State of Egypt, personified in the office of Pharaoh. The wanted to be released from their bondage so that their sacrifices would go to God rather than the Pharaoh who taxed the people so he would have the ability to provide them with welfare.
The word we see as sacrifice was the Hebrew word zabach [3]
It is the root of the word Altars which in Hebrew is zabach with the letter Mem [4]attached to the front. [5]
The Hebrew words for sacrifice altars and offering all had to do with a system of social welfare that operated by Freewill offerings and not by force. It was what became known as Corban.
The Israelite in bondage had to pay their taxes and learn to live without the benefits of Pharaoh to prepare them for freedom and liberty under God. The early Christians had to do the same thing while they were signed up for the Corban of the Pharisees with the government Temples in Jerusalem.
When they Repented and received the Baptism of Christ they were cast out of that system of Corban of the Pharisees which was making the word of God to none effect and gathered in Pure Religion by faith, hope and charity and the Perfect law of liberty.
