Democratic socialism
The events of our times are not unique in the history of mankind. We are engaged in a war of truth and lies, of light and darkness, and of good and evil. Polybius explained there is no safety in democratic socialism when, "The masses continue with an appetite for benefits and the habit of receiving them by way of a rule of force..." which certainly began with public education provided by tax dollar which at one time was abhorant to American voters. The New Deal of FDR allowed the spirit of democratic socialism to grow in the people until they become "accustomed to feed at the expense of others and to depend for their livelihood on the property of others..." Now politicians pandering to the palpable greed and avarice of the people are "uniting their forces massacre, banish, and plunder, until they degenerate again into perfect savages and find once more a master and monarch." The liberty in America rested not upon the power of government but upon the responcibility carried on the shoulders of every man and shared through voluntarism. Benjamin Franklin and Tacitus knew that "The desire for safety stands against every great and noble enterprise." The hope of liberty among such people is repentance. If you want to be on the winning side of the battle between good and evil you need to know where the battle line is formed.
The Roman historian Tacitus also wrote of the Crucifixion of 'Christus' and his execution by Pontius Pilate in his Annals (written ca. AD 116, book 15, chapter 44.)
Tacitus's description of Christian practices, while negative from his point of view was very telling if you understood the view point of Romans at that time. Once you understand what Christians were doing in that first century you should be willing to see that their practice of religion does not match the modern Christian Church.
Tacitus wrote in his works, “The communities are wont, of their own accord and man by man, to bestow upon their princes a certain number of beasts, or a certain portion of grain; a contribution which passes indeed for a mark of reverence and honour, but serves also to supply their necessities.”[1]
The words "of their own accord" in the text is from the Latin "ultro" meaning 'voluntarily'. Christian provided all social welfare for the Christian communities through voluntarism or we would call charity alone and the perfect law of liberty. Rome had instituted a form of social welfare through public Religion which like the Corban of the Pharisees made the word of God to none effect.
Early Israel as a republic provided a system of welfare through their altars of clay and stone through a similar system of freewill offerings. John the Baptist and Jesus directed the people back to charity and Paul and Peter warned that covetous practices would bar some from inheriting the kingdom and even make them merchandise as well as curse children.
The world of Rome began as a republic but as the Roman people were ruined[2] by their appetite for benefits offered by men who exercise authority through the Imperial Cult of Rome until they degenerated into perfect savages as predicted by Polybius.
The stark difference between the covetous practices through the legal charity of the public religion of Rome and the charity and love of Christians living by faith, hope and charity was the Christian conflict with Rome.
Christ and the apostles were adamant that His followers should not engage in the 'covetous practices' of the 'world' at that time by looking to the governments of the world who "exercise authority one over the other" to provide benefits, at the expense of their neighbor through those covetous practices condemned by Christ. Socialism is all about providing benefiting at the expense of others through the force of government. You cannot be a socialist, vote for socialist programs, desire benefits at the expense of others and honestly claim to be following Christ. Early Christians would not engage in those systems where force was used to provide social welfare.
