The "I paid in" Social Security argument might have some moral value if it was not such an impediment filled premise.
There are numerous factors that would nullify any moral prerogative to claim value returned to you.
- First there are few people that actually paid anything of value since even the Federal Reserve admits that Federal Reserve notes have no value. So, the question of a "right" to a return falls under equity not under Common Law. It is not a prudent strategy to mix the principles of these two often diverse systems of Jurisprudence.
- Second, there is nothing left of the funds for you to draw upon to take back from. Therefore you would have to covet the labor, sweat, tears and blood of new victims in order to get back any equivalent amount in calculated values of any kind.
Social Security system is what was called Corban in ancient times. The man who designed the system also incorporated a system of corvee within the basic structure of the system where you waive a right to a portion of your labor to be eligible for the benefits of the system.
Unlike a similar system set up in Egypt by Joseph several thousand years ago there is no ceiling limit of 20%.
Social Security is not stealing. Social Security is coveting. There is a law against both found in the foundational laws of one of the oldest republics.
- Exodus 20:15 Thou shalt not steal.
- Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour’s.
I will agree that people steal from the system but in order to do so they must violate another one of the foundational rules o a free republic.
- Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
If you want to understand the corvee side of the Social Security system read:

The system is broke.
You bet on the wrong horse.
And you lost.
There is no funds in the system because the system is a common purse. There is no division of funds in the treasury which has been stated, published and ruled time and time again. If the government is in debt then the beneficiaries are in debt. All benefits are provided by those who will be forced to pay in the future. Every dollar or dime you take from the system is not a refund but an extraction from your children and grandchildren.

Even though you are pretty much screwed there is hope if you will seek to understand a few more things.
While "Socialism is a civic religion" it is not "established in violation of the First Amendment."
It is established in conformity to the Contract Clause of the United States Constitution, Article I, section 10, clause 1.
It states:
- No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.
The Social Security system is voluntary when you signed up. Besides being a system of Corban and a Corvee system of statutory labor it also makes the state your Father.
Such a drastic change in the natural status of an individual requires three elements of voluntarism and debt to become binding in Natural Law.

A Patrimonial Right of the Father

People may plead ignorance or even try to claim fraud or deception but the truth is the hook was baited with your own covetousness.
Why did anyone ever think that your neighbor should be forced to pay for your child's education through forced taxes, to say nothing of your social welfare, health care or even protection. Natural law and common sense has told us for centuries that:
“Protection draws to it subjection; subjection protection” Protectio trahit subjectionem, subjectio protectionem. Coke, Littl. 65.
“The real destroyers of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations, and benefits.” Plutarch 2000 years ago.
It is not just avoiding the benefit that will be your salvation, but in providing an alternative. All societies, to be free, must provide welfare for their deserving poor. That mutual provision must be freely made if society is to remain free. That is the Natural Law and the theme of the Bible which speaks of governments over a thousand times and mentions religion only 5 times.

Today, “in the United States ‘it [citizenship] is a political obligation’ depending not on ownership of land, but on the enjoyment of the protection of government; and it ‘binds the citizen to the observance of all laws’ of his sovereign.” Wallace v. Harmstad, 44 Pa. 492; etc.(1863) Black’s Law Dictionary 3rd Ed. p. 95.
Debt has bound you into your present bondage, and until you care enough about your neighbor, as much as yourself, you will remain in bondage.
This was the message of Moses and Jesus, although you would not know it by looking in the doors of the modern Church or talking to modern Christians.
