Malachi 4

1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts. 4 Remember ye the law[1] of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb[2] for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

Comments Malachi 4
"day cometh, that shall burn as an oven" is a metaphor like what we see in Malachi 3:2 which refers to "the day of his coming... for he [is] like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’[3] soap[4] and those who "do wickedly, shall be stubble".
In 2 Peter 3:7 "reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."
2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2 Peter 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
"Sun of righteousness" rising is another metaphor.
Do you know what the Weightier matters are?

5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

  1. We see this form of Torat translated law in the sense of a sacrifice in true faith rather than the force used by Pharaoh, Nimrod, and the Corban of the Pharisees and of course their modern counter parts FDR and LBJ accepted by the Modern Church excusing their covetous practices.
  2. Exodus 3:1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, [even] to Horeb.
