Beersheba is the largest city in the Negev desert of southern Israel. Often referred to as the "Capital of the Negev", it is the center of the fourth-most populous metropolitan area in Israel, the eighth-most populous Israeli city with a population of 209,687, and the second-largest city.

In the Old Testament it is mentioned as a place and represented an idea of "well of the sevenfold oath" .

Amos 5: 5 But seek not Bethel[1], nor enter into Gilgal[2], and pass not to Beersheba[3]: for Gilgal[2] shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel[1] shall come to nought.

Amos 8:14

They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba[3] liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.
