The Bondage of Egypt was the result of eating at the table of the Pharaoh and going into debt where a portion of your labor belonged to the State. This is because the table of the authoritarian State is a Snare. Returning to the Bondage of Egypt is when the people are again entangled in the elements of the world and returning to The mire. An ancient way to enslave a nation of people is to tempt them to with the covetous practices of socialism which that makes them merchandise and curses their children. This new status brought them into what was called Corvee bringing them under tribute. How it works is explained in: Employ vs Enslave. Seeking the kingdom of God is following the righteous Way of Christ and the perfect law of liberty.
Because most people who think they keep the Sabbath need to rethink their practices. We were given those ten statements written upon stone tablets in hope that some day The Way of God would be written upon our hearts. The Sabbath is a way, not a day. Because we have not gone that way poverty, calamity without remedy, too proud to admit we have devised wickedness, swift to mischief, sowing discord.[1]

The Bible often makes a reference to being a surety.

Surety at law

Surety means "a person who takes responsibility for another's performance of an undertaking, for example their appearing in court or the payment of a debt."

A surety, surety bond, or guaranty involves a promise by one party to assume responsibility for the debt obligation of a borrower if that borrower defaults. The person or company providing this promise is also known as a "surety" or as a "guarantor".

"A surety may be required to pay or perform due to the principal's failure to do so."

The Israelites were in bondage of Egypt because they became a surety to debt. The terms of that debt were spelled out in the Bible and passed down to their children for generations.[2]

Right of subrogation

The law will usually allow the surety a right of subrogation allowing the surety to "step into the shoes of" the principal and use his (the surety's) contractual rights to recover the cost of making payment or performing on the principal's behalf, even in the absence of an express agreement to that effect between the surety and the principal.[3]

Abraham, Moses, and Jesus took advantage of this principle of surety subrogation.

The Bondage of Egypt was the result of eating at the table of the Pharaoh and going into debt where a portion of your labor belonged to the State.

This is because the table of the authoritarian State is a Snare.

  • "When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: 2 And put a knife to thy throat, if thou [be] a man given to appetite. 23 Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat." Proverbs 23:1-3

Returning to the Bondage of Egypt is when the people are again entangled in the elements of the world and returning to The mire.

This entanglement begins when the masses consume the dainties offered at the tables of ruler who exercise authority one over the other.

David and Paul make this very clear in their statements:

  • "Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap." Psalms 69:22
  • "And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:" Romans 11:9

An ancient way to enslave a nation of people is to tempt them with the covetous practices of socialism which that makes them merchandise and curses their children. This new status brought them into what was called Corvee bringing them under tribute. How it works is explained in: Employ vs Enslave. Seeking the kingdom of God is following the righteous Way of Christ and the perfect law of liberty.

Surety in the Bible

There are numerous words translated "surety" in the Bible: The first is yada[4]:

Genesis 15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety[4] that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land [that is] not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

Another is umnam[5]

Genesis 18:13 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety[5] bear a child, which am old?

And another term isak[6].

Genesis 26:9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety[6] she [is] thy wife: and how saidst thou, She [is] my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

Probably one of the most important Hebrew term is ‘arab (ברע)[7]:

Genesis 43:9 I will be surety < ברע ‘arab>[7] for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:
Genesis 44:32 For thy servant became surety< ברע ‘arab>[7] for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever. Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman[8] to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.
2 Kings 18:23 Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges < ברע ‘arab> to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
Ezra 9:2 For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled < ברע ‘arab> themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.
Nehemiah 5:3 Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged < ברע ‘arab> our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.
Job 17:3 Lay down now, put me in a surety < ברע ‘arab> with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?
Psalms 106:35 But were mingled < ברע ‘arab> among the heathen, and learned their works.
Psalms 119:122 Be surety < ברע ‘arab> for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.
Proverbs 6:1 My son, if thou be surety < ברע ‘arab> for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
Proverbs 11:15 He that is surety < ברע ‘arab> for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.
Proverbs 14:10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle < ברע ‘arab> with his joy.
Proverbs 17:18 A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh < ברע ‘arab> surety in the presence of his friend.
Proverbs 20:16 Take his garment that is surety < ברע ‘arab> for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
Proverbs 20:19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle < ברע ‘arab> not with him that flattereth with his lips.
Proverbs 22:26 Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties < ברע ‘arab> for debts.
Proverbs 24:21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle < ברע ‘arab> not with them that are given to change:
Proverbs 27:13 Take his garment that is surety < ברע ‘arab> for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
Isaiah 36:8 Now therefore give pledges < ברע ‘arab>, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
Isaiah 38:14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake < ברע ‘arab> for me.
Jeremiah 30:21 And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged < ברע ‘arab> his heart to approach unto me? saith the LORD.
Ezekiel 27:9 The ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy < ברע ‘arab> thy merchandise.
Ezekiel 27:27 Thy riches, and thy fairs, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers < ברע ‘arab> of thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.

Hebrews 7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety[9] of a better testament.

  1. Proverbs 6:1 My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger, 2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. 3 Do this now, my son, deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend. 4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids. 5 Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler. 6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: 7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. 9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man. 12 A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. 13 He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; 14 Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. 15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy. 16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
  2. Genesis 47:24 And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the fifth [part] unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.25 And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants. 26 And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, [that] Pharaoh should have the fifth [part]; except the land of the priests only, [which] became not Pharaoh’s."
  3. If the surety is required to pay or perform due to the principal's failure to do so, the law will usually give the surety a right of subrogation [which as a matter of law is an equitable doctrine, and forms part of a wider body of law known as unjust enrichment.], allowing the surety to "step into the shoes of" the principal and use his (the surety's) contractual rights to recover the cost of making payment or performing on the principal's behalf, even in the absence of an express agreement to that effect between the surety and the principal.
