Feudalism

Feudalism was a legal and military that structured society around the nobility holding of land by the authority of the Crown in exchange for that military service. The vassals and serfs were tenants of the nobles, all of whom were forced to give homage, labor, and a share of the produce in exchange for military protection.

Someone with a BA in history and an MBA wrote, "Capitalism without the state is nearly identical to feudalism."

This is patently absurd but the fact that someone thinks that is understandable based on what they have been teaching for the last half century or more in schools and text books.

Feudalism was a legal and military that structured society around the nobility holding of land by the authority of the Crown in exchange for that military service.

The vassals and serfs were often just tenants of the nobles. All were forced to give homage, labor, and a share of the produce in exchange for military protection of the kings.

So how in the world would Feudalism be the same as "Capitalism" which "is an economic system based on private ownership, control and operation of the means of production and their beneficial use," since 90% of the people in Feudalism did not own the beneficial interest in land and many even in their own labor.

Feudalism actually requires the State usually in the form of the king. Capitalism does not. If the peasants rose up the king could move in an army to protect his interests which the local Lord represents. None of this is the fault of capitalism.

Capitalism is not that complicated. Again Capitalism is only an economic system based on private ownership, control and operation of the means of production and their beneficial use. What you do with that basic freedom is up to the individual and the society and community he lives in or with.

Ancient Israel as a republic with no central bank, no compelled taxation to speak of, an all volunteer army, citizen hue in cry to deal with criminal injury and an appeals court requiring mercy and justice was a far better example of capitalism and their were no Kings.

Some believe there can be no capitalism without the state but what is the state?

In a free society every-man is king and high-priest in his own home. For that society to survive in the world each man must care about their neighbor's right and property and family as much as he cares about his own. This is the only way that the individuals living in free societies in the past have been able to live and survive in a "state of freedom". There is no such thing as a stateless society. People use the term because they equate the term state with a central power. But in free societies the power of the state is divided in every-man individually because he as not yet relinquished that natural power to either the central state nor the collective... There are many ways to relinquish that natural power and right which usually equates in an abandonment or neglect of natural correlative responsibilities. This is why free societies wrote, "The slothful shall be under tribute."

“Labour was the first price, the original purchase-money that was paid for all things. It was not by gold or by silver, but by labour, that all wealth of the world was originally purchased.”[1]

In colonial America, “The ordinary citizen, living on his farm, owned in fee-simple, untroubled by any relics of Feudalism, untaxed save by himself, saying his say to all the world in townmeetings, had gained a new self-reliance. Wrestling with his soul and plow on week days, and the innumerable points of the minister’s sermon on Sundays and meeting days, he was becoming a tough nut for any imperial system to crack.”[2]

On the other hand citizens of the United States do not own their own land today. They have at best only a legal title which does not include “ownership of an estate” since it carries “no beneficial interest.”[3]

We are not serving one another but taking a bite out of one another.

Galatians 5:15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

Our coveting demand for benefits has cursed our children with debt.

2 Peter 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

The truth is the constitution was the same rejection of God we see in 1 Samuel 8

That was bad enough but since then we have eaten with great appetite at the table of rulers and through covetousness we have been made merchandise regulated in equity.

Jesus had the power of a king but gave that power back to the people.

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

They want to think Christ has to come back while they say daily they have no king but Caesar...
