The Greek word we see translated enemy which we in the Bible's New Testament is ἐχθρός or echthros:

1) hated, odious, hateful
2) hostile, hating, and opposing another
2a) used of men as at enmity with God by their sin
2a1) opposing (God) in the mind
2a2) a man that is hostile
2a3) a certain enemy
2a4) the hostile one
2a5) the devil who is the most bitter enemy of the divine government

It appears thirty-two times in the text including two places where it is translated foe.

Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy <2190>.
Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies <2190>, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Matthew 10:36 And a man’s foes <2190> shall be they of his own household.
Matthew 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy <2190> came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
Matthew 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy <2190> hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
