I wanted to be a shepherd.
When I was young my father wanted me to be a lawyer. I wanted to be a shepherd. When I was older I thought maybe I would pursue a career in law enforcement because when I grew up the police cars said "To protect and to serve" on the doors.

I knew policemen and retired officers because I had worked my way up to captain in a security company run by ex cops and often worked closely with locally police. I had applied for a position with a local police department where I had friends, had taken the tests and was only weeks from joining the department.

One of my accounts had a violent incident where I had to pursue and apprehend someone.

After capturing and arresting them I soon faced a small angry mob alone. I contained the situation until there was backup but I saw the people who I was protecting flee into hiding when I could have used a little support.

When I saw they did not back me up I realized that not everyone deserved my protection and dropped my pursuit of a life with a badge.

This pattern repeated itself over the following years when I supported people who complained about injustices in the courts by appearing with them in those courtroom. I noticed quickly that many people want help when they are in trouble but abandon their neighbor when they need help.

I see that selfishness and covetousness are the major diseases in society today.

I talked the other day on the radio about people who hand 10 bucks out the car window to beggars on the street corner thinking they are helping someone and getting a good feeling in return.

They are making the poor weaker which was the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah.^[1] It is not just State social welfare that weakens the poor but every individual who supports those who do not take back their responsibilities. Unless one takes back those God given responsibilities they should not have their rights.

"The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute." Proverbs 12:24

The reason in my mind governments of the world has many of the powers they have is because the people's Social_contract. They pray or apply to it for the benefit of its protection like they did in Egypt. and their constitutional guaranteed power to Contract with those governments for protection. But more important because the people do not gather together to take care of one another in an alternative system.

I believe Christ preached that alternative system and I am only going to be laying down my life for those who repent and in hopes that they will repent. To me that repentance looks like what the early church was doing taking care of the daily ministration and unless I see people doing that I do not see them as deserving the liberty of Christ or any other liberty.

I believe that understanding where the true Christian conflict with Rome and its constitution was and doing what the early assembly of Christians were doing and what the Church appointed by Christ was doing will bring enough trouble. But I also believe that the righteousness of The Way‎‎ will be the only way to obtain the protection of God, which is the miracle required to restore the Perfect law of liberty.

I think God wanted me to go that route so that sheep could teach me something about the Kingdom of God. You cannot force sheep. The more you push them the more they want to go the other way. Charity in the kingdom is a responsibility of all and Fervent_Charity is a job only for volunteers.
