Talk:Tithing

1. I've heard it mentioned that the Messiah SAID He came to "return every man to his family (in one of the past 2 weeks broadcasts). There were many things the people expected the Messiah to do on earth 2000 years ago, but He came as a Lamb before He came as the Lion, and they were disappointed. There were prophecies left unfulfilled at that time because they didn't correspond to that time, they corresponded to a later time. That being said, how are we to understand the statement that the Messiah SAID He came to "return every man to his family and every man to his possession" (of which i can find no record in the gospels of Him having said that) with some of the statements He DID say, such as:

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household." (Matt 10:34-36).

"Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law." (Luke 12:52-53).

2. Giving is easy to understand. Tithing is harder. There are so many verses about tithing that make it hard to harmonize with what is commonly taught about it. Some of those verses are these:

"But thou must eat [your tithe] before Yahuah thy Mighty One in the place which Yahuah thy Mighty One shall choose..." (Deut 12:18).

"And thou shalt bestow that [tithe] money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before Yahuah thy Mighty One, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household," (Deut 14:26).

"At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase..." (Deut 14:28).

Not sure if i was supposed to send these directly to you, or post them on the post that went out to the groups..
